TCU football’s 2025 recruiting class continued to grow on Monday afternoon, with the Horned Frogs securing a commitment from three-star safety Julius Simms, who held offers from Michigan, Kansas State and Houston before choosing TCU. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder from Whitehouse, Texas becomes the 17th overall recruit in the 2025 class for TCU. Simms ranks as the No. 90 safety nationally and the No. 162 overall prospect in the state of Texas.
The commitment from Simms is a notable one for the 2025 recruiting class, which did not have a single defensive back before this afternoon. The Horned Frogs have been targeting EDGE rushers during this cycle, as TCU currently has four EDGE prospects committed including four-star recruits Chad Woodfork and Jared Martin as well as three-star recruits John Schobel and Anthony Williams. TCU’s 2025 class currently ranks as a top-15 class nationally, according to the 247Sports composite ratings system.
Simms, who also competes in track and field, appeared in 10 games during the 2023 football season and recorded 56 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, one forced fumble and one blocked punt. Simms totaled 59 tackles and one interception during his sophomore football season in 2022.
