Southern University football adds cornerback from transfer portal – Selambe

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Southern University football team landed a defensive back out of the transfer portal.

Tremell Harrell, a graduate student defensive back, announced his commitment to the Jaguars on social media on Tuesday, June 18. According to another X post, Harrell has two years of eligibility remaining.

Harrell will be returning to his hometown of Baton Rouge after spending two seasons at the University of Northern Colorado. In his first season with the Bears in 2022, Harrell appeared in four games and recorded five tackles. He would appear in three games during the 2023 season.

Before his time at Northern Colorado, Harrell played at Fresno City College and El Camino College for one season each.

Southern University will be kicking off its 2024 football season against the McNeese State Cowboys in Lake Charles at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31.
