Perryville Football partners with performance-based training company – Selambe

PERRYVILLE, Mo. (KFVS) – Perryville Football players took to the practice field Friday morning, learning and drilling combine-style tests, as part of the school’s partnership with Proform App.

Proform App is a software designed to help football players and teams. It’s as performance-based tracking, training and management software, designed by coaches.

At the forefront of Proform is CEO Eric Beisel. Beisel, a Fenton, Missouri native who played at Mizzou, along with several other athletic training professionals, led the Pirates through a series of drills. These included a 40-yard dash, the three-cone drill and the 20-yard shuttle to name a few.

Along the way, Beisel and the other trainers demoed and carefully instructed the drills to help Perryville’s players understand the importance of each step. They also ran a balance section designed to help players be stable in a variety of positions.

Proform has started to run these camps with their school partners. Now that the Pirates have baselines over a variety of drills, they’ve got all summer to improve, and they can utilize the app to track and better understand what they need to do.

Pirates head coach Brent Roth was thrilled to have the partnership, noting a key reason why he decided on entering it.

“We were looking into getting an app to take our weight room to the next level and motivate our kids,” Roth said. “And we were looking into different things and then these guys (Proform) came up. And I met with them and I really liked the things that they do, and the goals that they set and the datapoints. What really sold me was (that) the number one datapoint they said they look at was winning-percentage.”

With it being the summer break, Perryville’s athletes have a lot more time to train and recover, without worrying about schoolwork. And for coach Roth, it’s the best time of the year to develop a football team that can win in the fall.

“This time of year you’d don’t have to worry about being in the classroom,” Roth said. “You just get out here and get after it on the football field every day. It’s enjoyable and I’m looking forward to this season. Our guys are working real hard and i think it’s going to pay off for them.”

The players are going to be held accountable for putting in the work too. Beisel said that Proform’s set to be back out in Perryville later in the summer, to retest.

“All the testing that they’ve done today, they know they can take that right to the weight room and work it all summer,” Beisel said. “And then at the end of the summer, we’ve going to come back and test them again and see how they’ve improved.”

Perryville is set to begin it’s 2024 football season Thursday, August 29 when the Pirates host Fredericktown.
