2023 Record: 7-6 (3-6 in the Big Ten)

2023 Recap: Greg Schiano’s second restoration project at Rutgers is starting to bear some fruit. After three mostly rough seasons, Schiano broke through a bit last season with a bowl team. The Scarlet Knights were led by a very, very stout defense that ranked in the top 20 nationally in the SP+. Rutgers didn’t beat anyone even remotely good, but the Knights reliably beat the teams that were bad and then capped things off with the best win of the year over Miami in the bowl game. The offense was a struggle all season, with Rutgers getting shut out once and scoring under 20 points five times. Like most of the Big Ten, they have questions to answer on offense in 2024.
